Do any of you guys keep in touch with high school teachers?

It’s not strange to keep in touch with high school teachers. I expect that teachers want to keep in touch with you as well, so I wouldn’t worry about it being awkward.

I stay in touch with three high school teachers and my old tech director.

I have two of those teachers on facebook.

One of them moved out to California last year :frowning: but she invited me to come stay with her when I was thinking about traveling there for the week.

I don’t see anything strange with it. I had all three of those teachers for more than one class. I also worked closely with one on an independent project, one I worked closely with on community service projects, and one I had 4 classes with.

High school teachers are ridiculously happy when you come back to see them :)

no man i feel like a few teachers held me back, (kept me out of the top 10) if anything i will go to them in the future and Be like Now what B!TCH3S

i mean when i was in 6th grade my teacher recommended me for summer school(basically saying i was dumb and would fail the TAKS test at the end of the year) but i ended up passing all sections , while other kids who she thought were smarter failed

No. That would be kind of awkward for me.

I don’t see anything wrong or inappropriate about emailing a couple of your teachers. If they had that much of an influence on you, then it’s only fair to them that you keep them in your life. I e-mailed steadily with my high school band director from 11th grade, when he retired, until this year, and that’s only because he has a facebook now and we keep contact through that. I also am facebook friends with my middle school band director. I don’t think it’s weird, because those two are the reason I am a music major today, and they’re closer to me than family. Actually, I’m not allowed to eliminate my HS teacher from my life, because as he said, “I want an invitation to every concert, recital, graduation, wedding, and christening. EVERYTHING.” hahahahaha
So if you have a relationship like that with one or two teachers, go for it!

Yeah, I go back and visit! :] Maybe about once or twice a semester though, so nothing huge. I emailed all of my HS teachers that I liked and email, basically thanking them for a great year and being a wonderful teacher. I had fantastic teachers, and believe me, that are freaking ESTATIC when you go back and visit haha. They ask you all sorts of questions and some f them ask me to tell the students about my experiences in college/what to do/what to expect. It’s really nice. I don’t think it’s awkward.

One of my favorite things about visiting home is dropping in on some of my old teachers from HS. A number I stayed good friends with, and I’ve even been over to one or two of their houses now. My old chem teacher even likes it when I drop by since she can let me take over teaching class and she can take a block off and catch up on grading homeworks. Now and then if they somehow get ahead of schedule she even lets me do an impromptu lesson on materials science!

I guess I’ve been going back to visit for seven or eight years now.

Email would be fine. Facebook would be fine too, really, though I see that you don’t really want to add them.

I talk to a couple of HS teachers still. I guess I am still only a second-semester freshman, so I’m not that far removed, but I do keep in touch. I’ve kept in touch with my HS Latin teacher and my HS band teacher. I also have my senior-year AP English teacher and my sophomore-year AP European History teachers added on Facebook.
