Do any of you guys know each other in rl?

That was the funniest thing, at Bamabound. I had a parent come up to me and say, Are you Montegut? I really had to pause a little, wondering what they were talking about.

I have sometimes PM’d parents and given them my email address, so they don’t have to fill up their CC PM boxes on our correspondence. So I tend to forget the CC name and remember their real name, as they have become “email friends”.

but then how did you guys find out what your real names were?

i guess it’s possible to ascertain the identities of certain people based on what they tell other people…maybe if i go to UA, some of you will ask the first male asian you see whether he is siglio21 or not! :D

When I PM them and give them my email address, I sign it with my real name.

I met a dad and his son at BamaBound who recognized my last name as someone who had been emailing his wife, who I happened to meet on CC, but now exchange emails with.

Some of us are facebook friends, and recognize each other by their profile pics.

It was kind of funny - we all met at a predetermined place and time, then went up to each other and (sheepishly) said “are you from CC?”
Particularly amusing because given some of the board names we thought some ladies were men and vice versa.
We then tried (in vain) to learn and remember each other’s real names. Thankfully we had name badges for the two days. Personally I remember everyone by their state - there were the New Jerseys & DD, Texas & DD, Tenn. & DD, California & DS…

Yes the meet up at bama bound was nice but I admit that approaching the table was a little awkward  but it was nice to put names with faces & see the kids chat it up

We won’t be able to make Parents’ Weekend. Is there a possibility of meeting up with some of you on the 8th during Alabama Action drop off?

Although we’ll be busy moving son into his room on the 8th, have a ten o’clock check in time, we hope to meet some of you when son goes for check in for AA in the afternoon.

I’m sure there will be thousands of people at Parents Weekend. I’m wondering if we’ll even see son there. Maybe we’ll run into people at the hotels scattered across the State of Alabama for the event.

I think my cousin went to the same high school. Are the initials of the first two words of the school - BO? He graduated this year. He’s going to school at Stanford in the fall.

My aunt and uncle said that at the grad, it was announced that a student was going to Bama, so I think it was Krazie they were talking about.

LOL…

I was sitting in the bar at Capstone and a mom sat down next to me and told me that her D just got asked to CBH. I said, “Hi ____. You’re 's mom.” She was shocked that I knew her first name and her d’s name. I told her that I knew her D from CC and that’s how I knew both of their names.

No not BO although I also know many who graduated from there as well. We are in Fullerton, but our church is on the border of Brea and Fullerton so I know many from that school.

My son asked that we not come to parents weekend, because it’s far too expensive. So we won’t see him from August 8 until just after exams. He’s okay with that. We’re okay with that. After all, there is always skype …

We don’t have a freshmen this year, but we’re only going because we couldn’t go last year when younger son was a frosh because of a schedule conflict. We did go when older son was a frosh.

there with you momreads - they way I figure it it’s only four months… I keep remembering how fast a summer can go. That’s just one new season of “Weeds!”

Yes, and that five weeks off for Christmas is going to just dragggg on.

BTW, when Bama goes to a BCS game this year, what city will it be in? Is that predetermined like the Super Bowl is?

The next championship game will be in Phoenix.

m2ck
No, we dont attend BO____ high school, we attend Fullerton High School. Congrats on your cousin going to Stanford.

Same story here momreads. Unless I skip the Iron Bowl (looking rather unlikely at this point), I won’t be seeing my parents until Christmas break. Yay skype!

Montegut: Those weeks at Christmas really do not drag at all. My son always seemed to be going here or there with his friends, who were also home at Christmas break. This year, while he loves to shovel snow, he is hoping that it won’t be 22 inches.

LOL…

I think the Christmas break goes way too fast!

As momreads says, the kids are visiting their high school friends, dating, etc. With Christmas itself in the middle, it really breaks up the time.

Back to the original post, do we know each other in real life.

I have made so many good friends already through this thread. I am so excited to meet all your wonderful children and all of you, as we begin this journey together.

Keeping everyone in my prayers as you make the big trip this week. May your travels be safe and may you cherish your last week together.
