I had the Brown vs. Duke decision to make as well. It was pretty damn hard to make.

i got rejected by duke becuase i wrote an essay about how much i hate their basketball team

duke sucks

you deserved to get rejected then. LOL What were you thinking?

DUKE OWNZ OUR SOULS! haha

I got accepted because I wrote about the south.... so booyah

My parents wouldn't let me look at Duke...so I avoided the issue entirely!

y not, as a fellow armenian with armenian parents, I dont know the reasoning behind that

I'm not actually armenian. They said I'd better have a good reason for going that far away, and since I had never visited or anything, I couldn't really think of any, so I lost interest.

I gave up Brown, Harvard, and Georgetown SFS for DUKE this year. Duke is as good as any of them and so much better in other ways (e.g. weather, student attitudes, and athletics).

and another person who transferred from Brown to MIT.

I had a friend to transferred from Duke to Brown, she much prefers the social atmosphere at Brown, and she finds it more stimulating.

According to US News, Duke is 5th and Brown is 13th... not as if that means anything to me, as I would never have applied to Duke in a million years, but it's not as if there is any significant prestige difference between the two schools.

Unless you count sports. Everyone I know thinks Duke is a basketball school and kind of has it onthe same level as Illinois and Syracuse.

Armenia all the way!

Lol i got rejected from Duke cuz i forgot to change the name on my common app essay and ended up saying I'm dying to go to Yale..

Doesnt make a difference in the end.. would have chosen brown over duke anyway..

yes, that is funny!

really? hmmmmmmmmmmm....

yeah, but in the end it doesn't matter where u go

"Armenia all the way!"

I agree!!!!

but Rabo, your name is an armenian name... you've got me confused

I know, i got it from a Vonnegut book that I read just before they made the new CC.

I got accepted to Duke and even was semi finalist for the Roberston Scholars program. Towards the end I think I could have even gotten some aid, but I ended up favoring brown. I just love the open curriculum. But that said, I don't think there is much difference in prestige between the two schools. Besides, as collegekid said its all about "finding your niche."
