Yes and no. I do think it’s interesting that more than a year ago, one of my daughter’s friends was completely turned off by an overnight visit at a very good and not-too-liberal LAC because of the drinking and partying she observed at an overnight visit. So she went to large state U, where she thrived and found her people, who happen to be fairly conservative. The big state U was just named “#1 party school in the nation” by Princeton Review.
^The thing is that a big university will often have more variety so even if 9000 kids are die-hard partiers, that might leave 1000 who aren’t. At a small school you’d be looking at a much smaller number.
