do college visits increase admission chances

Florida State University is one of my top choices. I am afraid my stats are lacking a little bit, 3.41 GPA and a 28 ACT, but I do a lot of extracurriculars and had an internship last summer and am taking a college course as well as multiple AP classes. FSU is the only school I applied to that I havent visited. Would taking a visit help my chances at getting in? I have attended a session with a representative that came to my school and at a convention. My guidance counselor thought it might help me get in if I went and showed more interest.

Chance/opinions???

THANK YOU!!!

also i am applying from NJ if that helps.

Florida State does not seem to consider an applicant’s demonstrated interest as a criterion for admissions, so a campus visit wouldn’t have any effect.

Sikorsky when I called they seemed to say that it would go on file and if I was close with other applicants stats wise it may show interest and make a difference but all the info I’ve gotten seems to be different every time just tryin to figure it all out before I fly down there

I’m no expert. I just did some Googling.

You probably can’t get a more authoritative answer than the one you got by calling. Trouble is, you can’t really get any kind of answer you can depend on (such as, “It will help,” or even better, “It will get you in”) because until they start sifting through all those applications, nobody really knows whether it would make an important difference or not.

My best guess would be that if you’ve already talked to FSU reps twice, you probably wouldn’t get a lot of added value from flying down to Florida, but it would be no more than a guess.

Okay thanks for the help!! :)

Nice of you to say that. I thought I was hardly any help at all!
