I have a little question. Can I increase my chances of getting into the University of Miami if I go and talk to the Admissions guy? I already went there for a tour one time and I actually talked to the School of Communication (where I would be going) for like an hour! He gave me his card and I called him later on for some question I had about my SAT scores. I will know if I get accepted in early February but I just can't seem to picture me getting rejected... I emailed him today asking him if he thought I had a chance but do you think it would be better if I go and talk to him in person? He is very nice, he helps with admissions and everything and maybe will see that I really want to go there.

Any advice?

Why would you email a school to see if you have a chance at being admitted? That seems obsessive and annoying to the school.

Honestly, if you’ve done that much already, you’re better off not doing so. You’ve already shown your interest multiple times and presumably they got a good impression of you. If you go and visit him after talking to him, calling him, and emailing him, it seems a little too desperate and there are more chances for him to get annoyed… But if you feel like you will have something amazing to talk about or something new to show about yourself as an applicant [subtly], go for it.

Yeah, this seems over the top. You could hurt your chances if you are a pest, or don’t seem to know where the boundaries are between making your interest known and being a pest. If you met with him for an hour, called him about your SAT scores, and emailed him about your admissions chances, I think you need to stop now.
