Do colleges call-in and check your current grades?

Hello all,

I’m a current senior waiting on college decisions. According to my parent, some colleges “call” your school office and check your current grades (2nd semester grades). Is that true for top private colleges? Or even–is it true at all?

This is not a question asking about mid-year report and all that. By grades I mean grades of this semester–that are still in progress.

Thank you.

My S applied ED to a school in November. He learned (after he was admitted) from his guidance counselor that the school called her before they admitted him to check on his fall semester in-progress grades.

So yes, apparently some schools do check grades.

Depends on the school. Some yes, some no.

Does MIT call in and check current grades, then?

Thanks for all previous contribution.

Boston College does.

Early decisions apps do, but I think rest of colleges, use mid year report. They’re not gonna ask teachers for your quiz or test scores before they’re even on the report card.

Can’t say about MIT, but a relative had an admission in California rescinded due to a C in a senior class. I believe the admission was contingent upon maintaining his GPA and passing that particular class with a B or better.
