Which colleges check senior grades?

I heard today that colleges will now check midterms during senior year. They never did this before.
Does anyone know where I can find the list of colleges who even bother to look at or take senior grades into consideration? I know that the majority of colleges don't, but I learned today that three colleges to which I am applying to (BU, Syracuse, Cornell) check first semester senior grades...

"they never did this before"

???

i don't know of a college that DOESN'T check midyear grades... i'm sure a few exist, but all the major, brand-name schools definitely check midyear grades. i think they've been doing it for awhile, too. i would bet that all of the schools you're applying to, not just those 3, check midyear grades.

They almost all do.

yup
some seniors at my school last year who got accepted to schools like u mich or other pretty good places got rejected after their mid-year grades dropped a lot

if i remember correctly..most of major colleges require mid year report...excapt UCs...

Before you get anyone too excited there dnduswo, UCs require a transcript when you are accepted. The also require a final transcript. If your grades drop significantly they can rescind your acceptance.

do colleges let you know when they need the midyear school report or is it our job to hand it off to our counselor to be mailed at the end of our semester?

thanks

not midyear. Midterm, meaning the test midway through the year, equivalent to the finals at the end of the year...

i am referring to the mid-year school report from the common app in post #7... anyone???

huskies, some schools like mine don't have mid-year reports

i think you may have been misinformed about the midterm grades. i've never heard of colleges checking exam grades. some schools (like mine) allow seniors to be exempt from midterms/finals if they meet certain criteria, anyway. someone must have been confusing midyear and midterm when they told you that. all 3 of those schools definitely require a midYEAR report, though.

the midyear report huskies was referring to is the one on the common app site. you say that your school doesn't have midyear reports... but you will have to get your counselor to fill that form out for BU and Cornell you named in your first post, since they're both common app schools. i think syracuse has their own form for senior grades.
