Senioritis is hitting me hard. I still have all A’s but the idea of having to study for ap exams is not appealing. Will they care if I get 3’s or something?
They won’t know what your scores are unless you attempt to use an AP class for credit at the university you are going to attend. Requirements vary, but schools often require you get a 4 or 5 to give you credit for that class.
As hard as senioritis can be, wouldn’t you rather push through it and get at least 4s to get some college credit?
AP scores from senior would not get you rescinded. You just don’t get the credit with a poor score.
It won’t affect your admissions, look up that score required for credit wherever you’re attending and shoot for at least that. A couple days studying will be better than a semester in a class you’ve already taken.
Think about future fourfourfour…s/he wants to do a semester abroad. Having all those AP credits from HS sure does make that easier. Or you want to drop that class this semester because that lab class is killing you. Take the AP tests…future you will thank present you.
@onceuponamom @bopper The school that I’m attending only accepts a certain amount of AP credit and I’ve already hit the max on the limit. At this point, getting good AP scores would be a miracle of intrinsic motivation.
Not all credits are equal. Check out which one would be more useful for you.
Make sure you still get weighted grades if you elect not to take the tests. This could affect your rank if your school ranks and this is important to you.
The colleges will not care specifically about you. In fact, unless you send them the scores, they won’t even see them. You have to submit them specifically to get possible college credit.
Where it will hurt, is your high school. What you do on the exams, whether you ditch them or flub them is a statistic on your high school profile. Too many kids do that, and selective colleges will view AP courses during senior year for future students as a wash since your school will have a lower rating in terms of predicted success in those courses. That’s where it would hurt.
Some schools use the foreign language AP score for placement even if you don’t take credit for it
As I recall my D ended up using different scores than she thought as her plans unfolded. Her school only accepted but she didn’t necessarily use the first 6 that she took. I think she had to take bio and stats anyway for her major so used different scores for credit.
