Ok, so my school offers two pathways depending on your preexisting ability to get to ap calc ab as a junior (BC has to be taken after AB at my school).
Freshman year → sophomore year → junior year
algebra 2 honors → precalc or precalc honors (depending on grades) → ap calc ab
Geometry honors → Algebra2/trig honors (hybrid class) → AP calc ab.
My question is that I am currently scheduled to take geometry honors freshman year (I came from a school that only taught im1 to 8th grades at maximum). Would this difference in schedule cause me to not be admitted to an ivy league or another top university? In other words, does the class itself matter if the pathway does not change and they are both honors? Keep in mind I am a competitive fencer (possible recruitment as an NCAA athlete) and do competitive speech and debate for the best team in our state (weird flex I know) among other things.
Part of me is kind of relieved about geometry honors because (assuming I took algebra 2 honors) if I didn’t make precalc honors by maintaining a B+ or above in algebra 2 honors, then I would have to maintain a 96+ to get into ap calc ab.
