do colleges look at GYLC?

living in india, i got nominated by my school to attend GYLC. now i just need to hear back from them. our school reserved 23 seats and 23 people were nominated, and people are saying most people will get an invitation from GYLC...if everyone who's nominated gets in, it doesn't make it look very prestigious to me. but what do colleges think of it? the main reason i dont want to go is because it would cost $4500 including airfare. i don't see any use in spending that much money for a program that seems to want to fill all its seats rather than be selective of the students it allows for nomination.

I don't think that colleges will put a tremendous amount of weight on it unless you're consistently involved in leadership or government programs in your EC's.
Otherwise, GYLC might just seem like an application "fluffing" activity that you paid $4500 for.
Also, I'm in the US but here, most people get invites to go to GYLC if they scored well on the PSAT and chose to put their names into the student search service.
But - if you think it'd be a good experience and are really interested in the program itself, go for it.

Good luck!

dont go. 10

Don't do it. If you have to pay for it, then it probably isn't worth it.
