Do colleges look at student's attendance record though high school and take it into consideration?

I have so many check-in, checkout, and excused absences. They are all excused. Last year, I had to have surgery and I had to be absent like 15 days.. and this year, I moved high school during school days, so.. I have like 6 excused absences and 5 check out and in

I am kind of worried that It will hurt my chance to top 30 colleges.

How do you guys think about it? Please share your insights!

They don’t care

They care about your performance, not your attendance.

Yeah dude. You’re totally not getting into college with that on your record…

Yup, they don’t care, haha. As long as your grades reflect your understanding of the material, you should be fine. The only caveat is if your school lists attendance on the official transcript, but I’ve heard of very few that do this. You’ll be all right, especially if your absences were for medical reasons.

Best of luck!

Did this affect your grades?

The Common App does have a place to add “special circumstances” and also your GC can include information in his/her recommendation letter.

You can always double-check by going to the registrar’s office and ordering an official transcript before sending it out to colleges (:

If the official transcript doesn’t list it (most don’t have attendance on it), the colleges won’t see it either. Personally, I think you’re good as long as your absences didn’t impact your grades, but if you’re concerned, I’d just order one as it isn’t that difficult.
