Do colleges REALLY do this?

I know most colleges say they only look at your highest scores from each section and those are the only ones that count. But for some reason I don't buy into that.

Let's say a kid takes the SAT the first time and gets a 730 on the reading section but does poorly on the other sections, he takes it a second time and he does much better on the other sections but now his reading score drops to like a 610.

Won't the fact that the reading score just dropped over 100 points look fishy to colleges causing them to cast doubt upon the student as to whether or not the 730 was pure luck?

Yes...it would look fishy and they would wonder, but the official test scores are the best of each section (if the college says so)

But yes, when considering you in the final analysis they might wonder

That score would NOT work too much in your benefit, but they probably give you the benefit of doubt...but comparing, that'd be bad

yeah, they do look at them both i read in an admissions book. although as long as its a big campus with thousands of entrys, i highly doubt that it will negatively affect you that much.

i didnt send out my sat scores this time b/c i just took it today and i have a bad cold so i know i didnt do too good. do you think they can still obtain the scores from today though?

yes, every report has all the scores........UNFORTUNATELY
