<p>Do most colleges recalculate GPA/Rank based on mid year report?</p>
<p>I ask because it would be very beneficial for me considering I've had lackluster grades my soph/junior years, but I was able to get straight A's my first semester of senior year.</p>
<p>The mid-year report provided by the Common App to your universities has all of that information. Taking a look at the sheet provided for your counselor, he or she has to type in your new GPA, new rank, etc… They won’t have to recalculate it.</p>

<p>What I really wanted to know is whether most colleges use the GPA/Rank on the mid-year report in terms of admissions or they simply look at the mid-year report to make sure you aren’t slacking off but use the GPA/Rank of the first transcript sent that has grades through junior year.</p>

It is, however, used for admissions for every other applicant. It is certainly very beneficial for you if you improved as you said. Very beneficial.</p>

<p>That is why the prevailing wisdom - if you have stellar grades going into your Senior year, apply Early somewhere, if you don’t and think you can bring them up, then wait for RD- exists. Yes Senior grades get looked at at the same rate as Jr year grades.</p>
<p>Yeah, the mid-year report is an updated gpa and rank. If you’re applying RD, they’ll use the new scores. :)</p>
