Do colleges recalculate GPA?

At my high school (supposedly number 8 in the nation by Newsweek) makes GPA really hard.
A+=4.0
A=3.7ish
A-=3.33
B+= 30

AP/IB
A+/A= 4.04 or something
stuff like that

Using the standard system (A/A+=4.0, A-=3.7) I would have around 3.8 GPA right now
But using my school's system, I would have around 3.4-3.5!
And my two top schools are Harvard and UPenn.
Will they look at my 3.4 or 3.5 at face value or will they recalculate it?
Also, my school doesn't rank.

There is no "standard system." Basically every school has a different system.

e.g.,

my school uses:
A+=4
A=3.5
B+=3
B-=2.5

And we don't weight for honors or AP or anything.

That's why, on applications, the place where you enter GPA looks like this:
____/[highest possible GPA]
Applications also ask for the highest GPA at the school.

^Yes. Colleges recalculate because many schools use many different systems.

The UC recal. system makes me see stars.

OP and first poster: where do you go to school?

I go to HS in Nassau County on Long Island, New York.

Atara, what do you mean by that?

I go to City Honors, it's in Buffalo, NY.

Some colleges recalculate. Some don't. Some drop some of your courses, some don't. Georgia Tech raises honors and gifted Bs, Cs, and Ds 1/2 point and AP Bs, Cs, and Ds 1 point. As are not raised at all.

hmmm that's odd...
raising grade for B, C and D but not A
