Do colleges want to see self studying??

Would it be worth it to self study for AP gov./politics or AP human geography (My school doesn’t offer them) and aim for a 4-5 OR register for duel enrollment and take a history/ social sciences class at a local community college. Is this something that colleges want to see??

I feel like AP gov/politics would be beneficial since the topic is something I try to learn about in my free time

(btw I’m planning on majoring in history, but don’t know what types of colleges would be super interested in AP history classes)

Any help would be much appreciated

It’s cool that you’re into this and want to learn more. Schools don’t seem so impressed by self studying for APs. If these topics interest you and your school can’t meet you on this interest, you’d be better off doing something related to this. Get involved with political activities in your town, volunteer with a group that works with immigrant communities, report on these topics for a local or school paper, read books, etc.

A summer course, maybe. But self studying for AP exams as an EC doesn’t make you appear to be someone who is engaged.
