Do community college sports help your chance at transferring to a good university?

I am a CS major currently in community college. I ended up with not the best grades last semester, (1 A, 3 B’s and a C in English 1A) This semester I am taking it more serious and trying harder to get better grades so far I have all A’s and 1 B.

I still need to take my major required classes such as physics, math, and CS courses, and I have been told those are the more important ones the schools look at.

I am an athletic person, so I was wondering if playing tennis would improve my chances at getting into a UC school?

If I try much harder to get all A’s and am playing a sport, will I have a chance at getting into UCLA?
