Do Cornell's individual colleges each have their own admissions committee?

The reason i'm asking is, that if I'm applying to CoE, and my friend from the same school is applying to ILR, are both our applications evaluated by the same people or are they evaluated by the separate schools?

I suspect that there is at least some difference in the the chances of acceptance for different schools at Cornell. I don’t know it applications are evaluated by different people; but still, the school you’re applying to does matter a bit at Cornell. Some are easier to get into then others.

Each college has their own admissions committee.

Okay, thanks. So does that also mean that during the admissions process, mine and my friend’s applications won’t be compared to each other’s at all? I’m just worried if I just get flat-out rejected because of a relatively inferior application (but a good-ish application over all).

The applications will have no bearing on each other, be aware that admit to COE is one of the toughest at Cornell.

On the contrary, they are both read by the same committee. I know for a fact that both are read by the same person, and the applications definitely do have a bearing on each other.

@csdad, I’m aware that it’s really hard to get in, hopefully applying ED makes it a little easier (not my primary reason for applying ED but still hoping it makes it a little easier to get in)

Thank you both for the replies, but i’m getting two different answers here. So does the same committee read the applications or do separate ones?

This is nonsense

The link cleared things up, thank you.

They are read by separate committees. My D said that her professor told her that professors of particular departments also review candidates and make recommendations - at least in the Arts School.
