<p>I would imagine that major GPA is more important for a job. For internships, you may not have taken many major-specific classes at the time of application, so I suppose they are more likely to look at overall GPA.</p>

<p>Where I work, we do ask for transcripts. You are competiting against other canditates. I say they are both important. For internship, sometimes it is more who you know rather than what you know.</p>
