<p>When employers hire someone, do they look at that person's whole GPA, or just their 'engineering' GPA?</p>
<p>Assuming a big difference in both types, they are generally concerned with major GPA.</p>
<p>GPA for your core classes can help though, it gives you an edge over other applicants and shows you are a hard worker.</p>
<p>Upper division gpa, which isn't necessarily equal to your engineering gpa, is a more telling number.</p>
<p>Also note that most internships/co-ops look at a minimum overall gpa (usually a 3.0, so you're probably be okay).</p>
<p>I am planning to apply to a few co-op positions at the end of my sophomore year, but I won't be taking any 'major' classes until the Fall of my junior year. This is what/how my school's co-op program works. Will employers look at my over gpa (including general requirements such as history/english/art)?</p>
