Do girls really find self-confidence attractive?

Or do self-confident guys just assume that girls find it attractive, because they are, well, self-confident!
This just occurred to me and I found it very funny for some reason. I know, strange sense of humor

Yes. For the most part.

Until they turn cocky. Then it’s a major turn-off.

My threads still fail
I guess being a n00b doesn’t help

Flip it: do men find women more attractive when they are self confident? Yes.

I’m not sure if it’s that self confidence is attractive or that timidity is unattractive. I believe this because the whole Woody Allen schtick of humor though making fun of one’s self isn’t necessarily self-confident but it is by no means timid, I have found in my experience that the Woody Allen schitck works but women of CC feel free to weigh in as ultimately this question is up to you all not me.

^^Lawl, not always. IIRC, we had a whole thread dedicated to shy girls.
Edit: Ah here it is.

It goes both ways man. Attraction for girls goes a bit deeper than it does for guys, and confidence is a big part of that for most. If a guy is comfortable with himself, then he’s typically more outgoing and it reflects his entire personality, not just one aspect of it (confidence).

Ahahaha not in the eyes of a future I-Banker you dont! Nice trick with the colour. Yes, I think your sense of humor is strange, and yes people are missing the point (what is it?)

Some do. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be yourself and be self-confident to get one to like you. Your timidity can just be as attractive.

Yes, but if that self confidence turns to arrogance and conceit then it’s a no for sure.

^^^No idea what you are talking about.

self confident guys: hot
cocky guys: ick

*also, depends with each guy

What does “cockiness” mean to a woman?

It seems as if one woman uses the word and the rest seize upon it in a pack.

^ To me its someone who brags all the time about their accomplishments, has a superiority complex thus making everyone around them feel stupid or unworthy, expects to be the best or winner at everything (usually before the actual test, competition etc… has even started), disregards any advice that others give because they think they are “above it all”.

Its odd but most cocky/ arrogant people I’ve met have all been guys that used to be self- confident, but one major award or instance makes them completely cocky.

it means that when a guy is just ‘too’ confident to the point of being full of himself and concieted…e.g asking a girl if his hair still looks good during a date

^Girls ask that. :/

It depends. I’m not trying to generalize but I have found that in many instances the most confident guys I’ve met are also the cockiest. But I’m sure it’s not always like that.

confidence is basically being happy being yourself. When you’re confident you let off a different aura about yourself than when you’re cocky.

My mellow/depressive disposition is frequently mistaken for cockiness, unfortunately. So I’ll second the fact that girls don’t find that attractive. How they differentiate between “confident” and “cocky” I’ll never know.

A confident guy would never ask if his hair still looked good…he’d just know it does.

Anyway, yes, just yes. Myself, I’d prefer a cocky guy over a shy guy. I just can’t even carry conversations with shy guys and cocky guys know they’re cocky, make jokes about it, they’re easy to mess with and once they drop the attitude they’re cool to talk and joke around with.

Shy guys?
G: Hey
B: Hi…
G: Um…like basketball?
B: don’tstareatherboobsdon’tstareatherboob YES!
G: Okay…Lakers fan or…?
B: Yes! Like them very much!
G: Oh, well, I mean I kinda like the Spurs more myself
B: ME TOO! Heh…
G: Riiiight…I have to tie my shoes…over there.

Seriously, that’s the best case. Otherwise they don’t talk at all. And I just can’t work with it at all. I mean, it makes for sweet underdog teenage movies but in real life it gets boring fast.
