Some of the universities or colleges publish stats like high school gpa and SAT scores etc of the middle 50% of all enroled students, or acceptance rates, amount of financial aid given etc for the freshmen class.....I have seen these for Undergrads but do Grad School also publish these statistics??? If they do, it'll be a tremendous help to me in selecting which colleges to apply to.

I have checked out a couple of university sites but couldnt find anything lke this in the Graduate Students sections......

Some do, but the information as published by the Graduate School of a university is pretty meaningless, since admission is carried out on the departmental level.

To explain: Say University Y posted that 50% of admitted grad students scored above 700 math and 700 verbal on GREs. Well, the majority of admitted students in the sciences probably got great quant scores, and the majority of admitted students in the humanities students probably got great verbal scores. But an "average GRE score" would be meaningless across the board.

Your best bet is to speak to the Director of Graduate Studies in each department to which you are applying. At the very least we will tell you how many students are usually funded each year.

But the bottom line is that programs are selected by faculty areas of specialization, not by any statistical "match."

thanks Professor X....I was more interested in the funding statistics(for intls) so that I could choose which universities I should apply to....I'll try contacting the Graduate departments for more information....
