do guys like nerdy/smart girls?

Ding Ding Ding

we have a winner: embrangled....

she's figured it out, nice job. It's really simple to get a guy if you're a girl: take care of how you look and have a personality (self-confidence is big).

Haha, it goes both ways guys and girls. Girls expect guys to be confident/take care of themselves, so it is natural to expect vice versa.

Ha well I'm speaking from personal experience, so it'll probably end up sounding a little biased...

The smart guys I hang out like to have smart girlfriends. But not quite as smart as they are. They'll settle for someone a little bit below them if it means they'll keep their dominance. This one guy (ranked 3/249 in our class) and I kinda had a thing going. Now my rank isn't nearly that high, but we're pretty much on the same intelligence level. So yeah, nothing serious. We were just getting closer and getting to know each other better and things were just heading toward a relationship. And then one day he was like, "We compete too much for our own good and your sarcasm puts me in my place too much. This relationship isn't going to happen."

And yeah, I'm still bitter about it haha. But whatever.

On a different point, though, there have been a couple of guys who liked me but didn't ask me out because they didn't think they were "at my level."

It's a lose-lose situation haha

o_o;

interesting.

Is intelligence a liability these days?

duh.

^paraphrased from some quote..
somewhere...

over the rainbow...

I find myself drawn to intelligent girls, but arrogant ones really turn me off.

The best type of girl is someone who is down to earth and caring. I don't really care if she is smarter than me. Oh and yeah, being physically attractive and well groomed helps...alot.

well groomed?? Are you talking about girls or dogs :p

Haha. Most of the qualities listed thus far can be applied to both girls and dogs. Smart! Friendly! Loyal! Nah, it's cool. :p

Well I never looked at it that way. My apologies if I offended anybody :)

Well, my look on nerdy/smart girls...

Hell YEA!

yayyyy!!!!

no you didnt offend me i thought you had an interesting choice of words :)

In my opinion, nerdy people are generally not the most outgoing. Boys and girls alike are incredibly shy and bookish. People tend to gravitate others similar to their selves, but it's difficult for two shy people (heck, even one shy person) to start any relationship.

There's certainly tinder and kindling, but no spark.

You guys have made my week so much better. As for the Baby Got Brains link, I absolutely love it!!!!!!!! That article is going into my notebook, because, yes I am a nerd that plays softball and the alto saxophone, and I'm proud of it, and you guys and girls should be too.

smart girls that are hot are hot, but a lot of times its hard to find a smart girl who is hot, as they get better looking they get dumber, but there are smart hot ppl lol

...........................

i for one seek out smarter girls, i prefer someone who can challenge my thinking....and who will settle for a guy with a not quite olympic physique...

Only if they aren't math/science smart. I hate science with a passion and I don't really like math. I get along better with people who are more humanities/social sciences oriented. May because I'm not as active in math and science: the teachers are bitter about something that I can't figure why they're bitter, and in my physics class, the material's simply hard and counterintuitive. I almost got to the point of suggesting that my chem teacher (and physics teacher) they start of their first lectures with "Science is counterintuitive. If you think a certain answer is right, it's almost always wrong."

But I have no objections to smart/nerdy girls who don't talk about math/science. I don't like my math teacher (don't mind the material) and hate science with a passion. I'm definitely a social science/humanities person. Thank god I'll study finance in college.

there seems to be this unwritten rule that teachers with either the most horrible attitudes or the quitest voice gets the job.

I agree with you on that one ihateCA. Math and physics just bore me. Thank God I'm not going to an engineering school.
