I’m looking to transfer next year and I’m a College Freshman at my local community college. I’m looking to get into UT. This year in college I’m mostly doing core classes with a couple elective classes.
All throughout high school I was in theater and band and I’m just wondering if that matters at all as a transfer student? I was in almost every play done at my high school and even in middle school and I did marching band and all that. Does none of that matter anymore? Should I not bother putting any of that on my application, in my essays, or on my resume?
Any help would be appreciated
The short answer is yes. If you plan on transferring after your freshman year, then some of the later stuff that you may have done in high school could be considered relevant.
Just a note though: if you want to transfer as a rising sophomore, realize that your high school grades and test scores WILL be looked at. Depending on how well you did in high school and your SAT/ACT, it may not be the smartest idea to apply after only 1 year of college coursework.
Staying in this community college is not much of an option for me. I’m still living at home and I need to get out there along with many other reasons. On the UT website, it says that they don’t look at SAT/ACT scores but is that something I should look into doing? I never took those tests in high school but recently a counselor at my college said I shouldn’t need to.
Thank you for the response!
If you really need to transfer, don’t just apply to one school. You need to pick at last a couple other schools, and they may have different requirements.
