OK so I've been told by HS college counselor (mid-sized high-quality public in large state) that regional adcoms at Ivy's are not accepting any calls in March from HS college counselors to follow up with students mid-year reports. True? False? Somewhere in between? I have a notion that the PRIVATE HS counselors are making calls (and getting those calls accepted) on behalf of their students, but maybe I am off base. If you have information or experience here, please be specific. Thanks!

Colleges counselors may be RECEIVING calls from regional adcoms if they want to get a better “read” on a student under consideration or to ask a particular question about a student, but NO counselors are trying to reach Ad coms by phone in March when they are in the middle of deliberations.

OK thanks - anyone else have thoughts/experience here?

Usually the only way they’ll talk to the adcoms is if they’re called for more information or for clarification of something on the application.

I attend a boarding school and our calls go straight to adcoms at HYPSMC.

This is during March as well. Our head of college counseling WILL call adcoms at their home if he wants during committee reading time.
