My class rank is 24 out of 308, my school does not weight college classes. I have over 250 hours of community service. I ride a bus for over 2 hours to attend a better school. I plan to apply for ED.

You’ll get in due to Affirmative Action

Bowdoin: High match

Hello - the level of achievement you’ve demonstrated despite your humble upbringing indicates that you are a hard worker.

Your GPA is great, and the class rank of 24/308 supports this. The list of leadership and ECs seems quite good as well.

Have you taken either the SAT or ACT? IF so what did you score? I know that Bowdoin is test optional but even if your score is borderline it might be helpful to submit it anyway.

I took the ACT last year, but I got sick during the test and bombed it. I retook it this month and think I did fairly well. I get my scores on Monday, so fingers crossed

If you really want to attend Bowdoin, why not apply ED? I think you look great, and not because of the affirmative action angle at all! Look at you, two jobs, riding the bus two hours to school…that unweighted GPA…any university will be lucky to have you! You know that it’s a highly selective school, and a lot of qualified students get turned away…but why not go for it? And a few other seeming “reaches” as well. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Just don’t forget to apply to a few safeties.
