Do I have a chance?/ Any more ideas?

I'm a 16 year old girl from Canada. I'm black by race and in grade 11. My aspiration is to get into a very good American university to study software engineering or computer science.
My grades aren't that spectacular because until recently I just found out what I wanted to do and I'm working hard towards it(not that much of a good excuse I know).

But I did start-up and create my school's first online newspaper and we've had over 6,000 views in about a week from all over the world. Plus I'm editor-in-chief. I'm also a member of the school tennis team and I'm the fund-raising co-ordinator of DECA(a Canadian known business club found in some schools). Also I volunteer at an organization that helps with handicapped kids. I just recently took the AP exam in english literature(even though I'm not in any AP classes) and I hope I did well.

I'm a bit scared that my poor previous grades will pull me down. I'm thinking of writing a book 'cause I'm really good in english and I'm in the middle of creating my own website/blog, and also get into some singing competitions 'cause I've been told I have a good voice. Do you think any of those will boost me up? Because I know that the only thing I can rely on right now would be my extra-curriculars and SAT scores.

Would it also help to say that my grandfather went to Oxford?
Please help! I need advice!
