Hi everyone!
I am a sophomore preparing for my Junior year and I want to know if I have a chance at a high ranking school (Hopkins, Duke, UPenn, etc).
My GPA is 4.0 unweighted and 4.54 weighted.
My current SAT score is 650 R/W and 700 M (this is the new SAT by the way and it is the first time that I took it).

I am white, female and my school does not rank students.
Thanks a ton!
You’re a sophomore. likely your scores will go up.
Your chances are likely as good as anyone’s if your scores increase.
The questions are:
What is your home state?
Why do you want a top school?
What is your major and career goal?
How much will your parents pay each year for college (ask them, don’t guess)?
Do you have a nonCustodial parent? If so, will that parent help pay for college?
Do you realize how much work 7 AP classes is gonna be… all that on top of research will likely be too much, and could drop your GPA by a lot(some people can handle this course load, but most would be extremely stressed).
Your test scores and ECs look good though, especially for a sophomore.
Thanks for the response! Mom2collegekids, I’m in NJ and I’d like a top school because I want to get the best education possible from the best teachers and in the presence of other motivated students. I’ve also heard that good connections are easy to find in a top college. I definitely want to go into science, most likely biological science or premed. My parents are not extremely wealthy so they could most likely pay no more than $20,000 a year. I would definitely qualify for financial aid though. I do have a noncustodial parent by they will not help to pay for college. Thanks again for your help, everyone!
