I'd rather have my counselor give me my rec but since I need two my english teacher will have to suffice for the second. Is there any way I only have to submit two?

Blah, that's not possible, forget it.

Rabo, yeah bro, I'm pretty proud of that as well. Too few people play ping pong these days, man. It's a great sport..

Ohh. I only have a 3.58 too. I still applied...and I have lower SATs than you. But I am still top 7%.

I hope that being the captain of a league champion tennis team and a Gold Award recipient will boost me up...really praying. Like every 5 minutes praying.

I am counting the hours practically until 5 pm next friday.

I have no idea how my GPA compares with everyone elses, since we have it out of 100 and not a 4.0 system. Keep in mind that if you go to a competitive school, that will come through in your school profile.

yeah, good recs are important. Find teachers that know you well, not just teachers of your subject major. It's a plus if they knew you for several of their classes, not just one.

If you write a killer essay, you have a good shot - something that wows the readers (and really imprints upon them why you are a must-have for the school) will compensate for your relatively low scores. Your scores are not so low as to keep you out of the running, so if you work hard on the more personality-driven aspects of the app I think you could be admitted.

The counselor one doesn't really help that much though, I come from a big school and my counselor can care less about us. My admission officer said she came from a big school too, and that she knows what it's like if I don't a good rec from my counselor.

You do have a shot, albeit an outside one. Your SAT is very good (although for Brown, I'd guess that it's slightly above average, so it will clearly help you, though not tremendously.) Your EC's are pretty good, and since you have an interest in biology, all the UCLA volunteer work looks tremendous. However, your 640 biology is not good at all for a prospective ivy league biology major. Your rank is also very low. If you retake all three SAT II's and get 700+ average for all three of them, especially making sure that you get a high bio, I think you can offset your class rank. Your class rank is very low for Brown's standards, but It's not horrendous, especially if you're in a high school that's very well-known for being competitive. Great rec's + essay (or essays, I'm not familiar with the Brown app)are a must. If you can do well on the SAT II's, get great recs + essay, I say that you're probably in. However, taking my advice is absolutely essential.

Then it's a pretty substantial reach for you (with your relatively low SAT II's), but stranger things have happenned than you getting accepted. Make sure to write killer essays and get great rec's. Good luck, but be realistic, i.e. don't be devastated if you're rejected.

Anyway, printing out the forms I've come across two teacher reports. Do we need two? I thought we only needed one teacher report and one counselor report.

I'm in a state of disgust. Can someone please confirm that we only need one teacher rec.
