I'm applying for transfer for the Fall of 2011 for Emory and Wake Forest. I want to major/minor in a combination of International Relations/Middle East Studies/Arabic/Political Science (depending on the school)

Accepted: I've gotten into the University of Texas, American SIS Honors, and William & Mary. I'm having to turn down the latter two because neither school met more than 50% of my need. I can afford to go to UT but... I honestly don't like the school very much.

Rejected: Cornell (I wrote terrible essays), Brandeis (uh... not sure why?)

Waiting: Vanderbilt - CAS, George Washington - Elliot, Georgetown - SFS, Fordham - MES

Stats:

A.Transfer Notes:
- Applying for Financial Aid/FAFSA EFC is 0
- Transferring from a relatively small, unknown LAC. USNEWS says it's a "tier one" institution.
- I am in the Honors program at my LAC

B.High School Academics, Notable Feats, and Important Notes:

Final High School GPA: 3.7

College credits by the time of graduation: 36 hours/4.0 GPA (took 17 hours in the Fall, 19 in the Spring)

Accepted into Phi Theta Kappa while in high school

Deans list at the community college the entire time I was there

I've got some extensive ECs, volunteer work, and clear examples of positive character. I'll post here if requested.

SAT: ~1900. (Took it two-three years ago)

I went to two high schools. I was dismissed during my Sophomore year from the first one. I transferred to a private high school that did not offer any Honors/AP courses. I helped create a dual-credit program at the school that allowed me to go to a community college four days of the week. I was able to complete 36 credits of an Associates in the Arts my senior year of high school. ALL classes were on-campus and alongside real college students.

C .College Academics and Important Notes:
- Cumulative GPA: 3.93 GPA with 99 credits.

I took 27 credit hours in the Summer before this Fall. I achieved a 4.0 in the summer and completed my Associates in the Arts with highest honors. I was admitted into my LAC as a Freshmen applicant but have now achieved Senior status. I had a 4.0 GPA up until this semester, where I got two B's. My school is on the normal unweighted scale, but they were extremely high B's. I was under a lot of outside pressure that I will explain in my essay. I've always taken the most rigorous and hardest course load available to me, and have always taken between 18-27 hours per semester.

Lay it on me, guys. Do I have a chance? I really don't want to go to UT, and I've been heart broken ever since I turned down W&M. I know Emory has great financial aid and I've heard Wake Forest is pretty decent with aid.

Thanks.
