Do I have a chance at getting in?

Hi ! I’m going to be a Senior this year. I have a 4.3 weighted gpa and a 3.8 unweighted gpa. I scored 1110 on the new SAT, which is out of 1600. I’m in Art appreciation club, National Honors society club. I did debate my sophomore year. I’m President of the endangered species club. I also have a job and I do Xc off to the side. I scored really good on my essay for the SAT. Also, I have 110 hours of community service. I’ve taken 6 Ap classes and the rest honors. Also, I’m in the top 10% of my class.I’m

Getting into which school? See the following link for admission stats for all 12 Florida public universities:

It looks like your GPA/class rigor and EC’s are good enough to make you competitive at any Florida public, including UF. However, you do need to improve your SAT for the more competitive schools (UF, FSU, UCF and USF). You have plenty of time to re-take the test, and keep in mind that most of these schools will superscore the results (take the highest score section from each of the test you’ve taken).

Good Luck!

Ok, then lets take a look at the Matrix I linked above.

First, you’ll notice that it’s easier, at USF, FIU and UNF to be accepted if you apply to the Summer B term, vs the Fall term. At UF it’s about the same, maybe a little easier in the summer.

I’ll use UNF as an example:

The Mid Range (the middle 50%) of Accepted Students:
GPA-Summer 2016: 3.38 to 3.85
GPA-Fall 2016: 3.83 to 4.39
New SAT Fall: RW: 550 to 620, M: 590 to 690 (combined
They only have the “old” SAT scores for Summer B, but they do look significantly lower than the Fall scores.

Using the above, you can tell that your GPA is well within range for UNF. In the summer it would put you in the top 25% of admitted students. However, your SAT scores looks to be a bit below the mid range.

Now, lets consider that UNF offers automatic merit-based scholarships, based on a minimum GPA and test scores.

http://www.unf.edu/admissions/scholarships/Freshman_Automatic_Scholarships.aspx

Award Amount (total over 4 years)
Diamond: GPA= 4.3 SAT=1450 Award Amount=$24,000

Platinum GPA=4.1 SAT=1380 Award Amount=$16,000
Gold GPA=3.9 SAT=1310 Award Amount=$12,000
Silver GPA=3.8 SAT=1290 Award Amount=$8,000

Based on Admissions, you want a 1150 or better. For the merit scholarships, you want a 1290 or better.

You can do this for each of the schools you’ve listed.

Here’s a link to FIU scholarships (you’ll want a 1280):

Here’s a link to USF’s scholarships (a 1260 would get you a $12,000 scholarship).

UF doesn’t not have an automatic merit scholarship, but they do offer decent need-based aid.

Good Luck!

Okay! Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it.
