Do I have a chance @ Columbia?

<p>Columbia is my dream school, but I don't want to apply for undergrad if I don't have a chance of getting in.
Here are my stats:</p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 3.43 (I can't find an accurate calculator for my weighted GPA, but it'd probably be around 3.8 or 3.9)
PSAT: 180 1st time taking it junior year. I qualified for African American National Merit scholar.
I haven't taken subject tests, the SAT, or the ACT yet. i plan on taking subject tests june 5th this year and Sat/ACT next year.</p>

<p>Honors classes:
Freshman English,
Sophomore English,
Sophomore History </p>

<p>AP Classes:
AP English
AP US History
AP Bio</p>

<p>APs for Senior Year:
AP Art History
AP Environmental Science
AP Comparative Government
AP English Lit</p>

<p>I am an African American, Vietnamese, and White female, and plan on applying as African American.
Youngest in family, with two siblings in college beginning next year. I think I'm first generation university goer.
Middle to Low income family in an affluent community.
I'm a Varsity member of my Speech and Debate team, News Editor for school paper, Vice President of the Mock Trial Team, Publicity Secretary for Senior Men and Women, my school's volunteer organization, and (possibly) President of the Black Student Union.
I was in the school orchestra for a year (dropped due to scheduling conflicts) and cross country/track for two years (dropped due to injuries)</p>

<p>I'm a great writer and will have solid essays and strong if not excellent teacher recommendations.</p>

<p>I plan on breaking 2000 on the SAT once I study for it, since my biggest strength is English. I want to major in Political Science with a minor in Drama, and ultimately plan on going to Law School. </p>

<p>I don't know my ranking in my class but I go to a very academically competitive and financially wealthy school, where many students can afford tutors for every class and have been training for Ivy Leagues since they were little.</p>

<p>Please let me know what my chances are. If you have any other private schools in urban locations (preferably New York or California) that would want a student like me, please let me know. Thank you very much!</p>

<p>Considering your low UW gpa and relatively lack of a hard schedule, I doubt it. Even with urm status</p>

<p>nw - student has a lot of room to make progress, if grades are strong at end of this year, and stronger beginning of next, that would absolve the grade question. testing shoots above 2k in SAT, also.</p>

<p>you have a shot, keep it up with classes, start to think about your essays and what your voice is, and kill the SAT/ACT.</p>

<p>@NW: My school is very competitive, even though it’s a public school, and my schedule is fairly rigorous in this aspect. Here, College Prep classes are considered basic level education, whereas schools in other districts offer them as something students should take if they want to challenge themselves.</p>
