sophomore gpa so far- 94
am taking all 5 honors classes offered- honors chem, honors english, honors precalculus, honors foreign language, and honors govt (there are no AP classes offered to sophomores, but i plan to take all APs offered next year)

school doesnt rank bc there are only 69 people in the student body

i estimate to get at least a 2050 on my SATs
i plan to take 3 SAT subject tests- Chem, Math 1, and Hebrew Language

P.S. i go to a very small, private religious high school and end school at 5:00 pm each day, so i also take 4 religious classes per day (which i also get A's/A-'s on)

leadership: president and founder of social action club in school this year

extracurricluar activities: creative writing, write for school litmag and school newspaper, submit to contests and other writing websites; drama club in school both this year and last year, will hopefully continue thru the end of high school and will get 2 credits for it on my transcript by the time i graduate from high school, hip hop club this year, litmag committee this year, student ambassador committee last year, art club last year,

community service: school requires 15 hours per year, which i am currently on par with

i am a non-legacy
i am white
i am a non-first generational college student (my parents came here from russia a few years before i was born so they went to college in russia, but i guess it still counts as me not being a first generation college student, even though im the first one to go to college in america in my family)

Calm down, you haven’t even finished junior year yet and your projected sat scores and plans to take the subject tests mean absolutely nothing right now. What is the rigor of your school? How good is your essay? Do your extra curriculars mean anything or are they just ******** fillers? there’s so much left unsaid and at this point, no one can chance you as you are only halfway through the highschool experience. Think about what you can do to set yourself apart from the competition. the vast majority who apply will have quite impressive academics and standardized test scores, so think about what you can do to shine above that. Anyway, good luck and I hope you pursue columbia for the right reasons and not just because of the prestige.

thank you… also is my gpa compatible? (anyone can answer this btw)

buummmmpppp

A 2050 is on the low side for Columbia admissions. GPA wise you’re in range, 15 community service hours a year is fairly low, and your ECs aren’t particularly helpful in admissions.

It’s pretty early for you to be worry about college. Impossible to give a decent “chance me” response considering you’re only a sophomore with no test scores. For Ivy League level schools you should be aiming for 2250 on the SAT. That being said, 4.0 2400s get rejected all the time, so you need to also buffer the other parts of your resume. ECs, essays, recs…

If you keep your ECs (don’t add any new ones) and get a 2050 on the SAT I would not consider it very likely for you to get in. Imo though. A lot can happen in two years.

thank you! I’ll keep in mind what youve posted- its really helpful

Okay, whatever. It’s always good to prepare early (I’m a sophomore as well  )

but SAT score is LOW

At this rate, a 2%-5% chance.
