-----------------------------PLEASE HELP!--------------------------
Do I have any hope? The wait is almost over but I'm so anxious!
Please be brutally honest.

Duke-with legacy maybe...

W&M- better if you are in-state
Wake- probably
UNC- maybe if you are in-state
UVA- maybe if you are in-state
Northwestern- probably not

Duke - Probably not
-Tufts - Probably not
-William and Mary - If you're in state, maybe. Otherwise, probably not.
-Wake Forest - Probably not
-UNC Chapel Hill - - If you're in state, maybe. Otherwise, probably not.
-UVA - If you're in state, maybe. Otherwise, probably not.
-Northwestern - Probably not

i think you have a decent shot at tufts and duke..
dont be nervous, even if u don't get it, its def. not the end of the world..u seem like ull be successful wherever u decide to go, good luck

Not being harsh at all, just realistic. Median SAT V+M at Duke is 1430. Median at Tufts is 1380. At Northwestern, 1410. At Wake, 1325. OP is below the median SAT score at all of these schools and below the 25th percentile at Duke and Northwestern, and just barely above the 25th percentile at Tufts. Her best shot is at Wake Forest, but my guess is she's got less than a 50% chance there. At the other schools, she's probably got less than a 15% chance. But she's already in at Furman and Clemson. If she gets into one of the others, it'll just be icing on the cake.

Duke-doubtful...but maybe if your legacy card is a very strong one
Tufts- maybe
W&M- in-state, probably, but out of state, doubtful
Wake- probably not
UNC- yes if you are in-state
UVA- maybe if you are in-state, out of state is a huge reach
Northwestern- probably not

The math score is pretty low, and the EC's are pretty weak. GPA and rank are pretty solid though. But, like above posters, unless you are instate for WM, your chances are slim.

thanks for posts...
My ECs are NOT weak!
I have been in Girl Scouts since 2nd grade and have earned my Gold Award (equivalent to Boy Scout Eagle) am a charter member of my community service club that grew from 7 to 150, recieved an award from the archdiocese for my service in the church, student gov secretary for four years (everyone knows the secretary does all the grunt work!), honor societies, and i spend a ridiculous amount of time in and out of school as yearbook editor (it's a big deal at my school. We are very selective, and last year I went to a journalism conference at Columbia University), I played lacrosse for two years, I was honored as one of 30 for a state leadership team, I am also in Young Democrats, I have won many essay contests and several region science fair titles, and other stuff...I think it is more important to be dedicated to a few endeavors than simply signing on for every club available for resume fodder.

Does that increase my chances any? It's the scores isnt it? :(

^i wouldn't get too upset..
IMO, people think way too much of SAT scores..
of course higher SATs would help, but if you show your commitment through your ECs (like you've done), write a good that shows something about U, and show that u take advantage of the oppurtunites around u, then that couns for a lot more than any single test..

Oh, well I hope that's the sort of thing you wrote down on your application about your ECs! There's a difference between being in girl scouts 10 years and getting that gold star, and all of those other awards!

you really should do at least 1 sport, and really you should have pulled that math grade up, out of all 3 subjects, I personally think math is the easiest to improve in.

i played Lacrosse for two years but I couldnt handle practice, yearbook, clubs, and school work all at the same time so something had to give. I wasn't good enough to warrant scholarship/recruitment etc.
