I had a terrible high school resume. Blame it on what you may, I just wanted to go out and work on film sets. At the end of my JR year in high school, I got my GED and went to work for a production company.
With that being said, I never took the ACT or SAT. I will be taking both but my question is, is how big of a role does the HS GPA play a role in my acceptance? Im hoping that taking a both along with a strong letter and short will convey my sincerity in attending Chapman. I've searched board after board, school after school and have come to the decision that Chapman is the one.

Any thoughts? Anyone been in a similar situation?
Thanks

EDIT- I did read the thread below in regards and I will admit, my HS GPA was in the low 2's.

Feel free to pm me any time. Best of luck.

You are not going to be happy with my advice: I think you should continue to set your sights on Dodge/Chapman, one of the top film schools in the US. But I think you will need to plan to transfer as a junior, after you have shown that you can apply yourself academicallyt. Dodge weights creativity very high in considering applications but Chapman will want to to be a solid A/B student.

Lsufan1232,

Great questions – there are lots of students in your situation so I am glad I’m able to answer this question in a forum like this. Predicting admission to Chapman’s film school is tough. Generally speaking, we do end up admitting students who are both talented, and academically prepared. Because Chapman is a liberal arts school and students would be expected to take more than just film classes, academics are at least as important as talent.

Our advice, based on the limited information we have, would probably be to enroll in some community college classes (math, foreign language, etc) and demonstrate your ability to perform in the classroom.
