Do I have a chance into getting into one of these schools?

I want to get into Newman or the Commonwealth School, I don't know if I should try though. I come from a small city that's not particularly known for it's academic achievements. My public school system is okay but the high school is horrible. Anyways, I would appreciate if you guys could tell me what my chances are for getting into one of these schools or if you can point out some more schools in the Boston area. I live about 15 minutes away from Boston, I don't think the commute would be a big problem :)

My school uses the number grading system instead of the letter ones. A one is a failing grade and a five is a grade that means you went above expectations. Three is average. Two is a warning and a four is the equivalent to an A.

My last two report cards (and most of my earlier ones) went something like this:

English: All fives
Math: Three fours and two threes.
Science: Four fives and one three.
History/Social Studies: Four fives and one four.
MCAS Prep (You only get two grades for this): Two fives.

Then I got all A's and fives in student participation and effort.

My school doesn't have a lot of extracurricular activities. All we have is a choir, student government, and this program where you go down to the lower grades once a week and help them. I'm involved in that program and I'm a representative in student council.

I've been doing archery for about 6 months now. I really enjoy it but besides that I don't do any sports.

Oh, I'm also fluent in English and Portuguese, I don't know if that matters but you never know. Do I have a chance? How hard is it to get in? Do you know of any other schools? Thanks in advance :)

BTW: I'm in eighth grade right now and can get some recommendations from a few teachers.

Oh, sorry forgot to mention I’ll be applying for financial aid.

I am applying to prep schools 9th grade, as well. Your grades seem solid, average ec’s, but nothing really “stands out” about you. Are you passionate? What can you bring to the community? My advice: Ace SSAT’s and nail you essays and interviews. Mention things that are important to you as a person and how you want to pursue your dreams at their school. And when I was considering Newman…I found out they drop a few kids every year to keep open slots in higher grades…just saying… (Oh and chance me)
