^ Yes it’s called a really poor HS, heavy grade inflation or extremely easy course selection (which I don’t think applies to OP). It’s just like those people who claim to get an easy A in AP Lit yet can’t score above 700 on the SAT CR.

*First of all, I’m a girl. :)

Ok…i totally forgot I asked this question so here are the answers to what you guys have been asking.

Sat= yes, It’s a 1570 out of 2400. But this was in January, when I did not study at all! I’m going to take it again, this time actually seriously taking it.

5.0= Not a poor high school, I’m taking 2 AP Classes, and 2 Honors… we are on a block schedule, meaning 4 classes per semester.

Someone said that extracurricular is average, can you please help me to improve that?

What could I do to get in?

Thanks for your help.

It does not matter if you do not study for the SAT. A 1570 is horrible especially for Stanford. That is 60th percentile and I got higher than that in 7th grade

^Wow you are an a-hole.

there is always the ACT

Yeah, definitely try the SAT again as well as the ACT. Study as hard as you can to perform as best as you can on both of them.

greenteen, why would any one not SERIOUSLY take the SAT if he/she was aiming for Stanford? It does not add up. And studying isn’t normally going to improve you 500+ points, which is what you need to be competitive.

I think your EC’s are pretty good. The SAT score? Oh dear. You have to get over 2000 to even be considered for Stanford. You better study. And try the ACT too. Good luck.

Yes you do have a chance at getting into a top-ranked college. I don’t know about Stanford because the whole world wants to go there (and more and more people apply every year) but if you get that SAT score up, there would be a LOT of top schools that want to take you.

yes, i understand what you are saying. sorry, thats not what I meant. It just came out wrong, what I wanted to say was that I really didnt think of it as much cuz i had a lot of stuff going on, but now that I’ve been studying for it a lot, I will take it with more confidence. But i honestly do not need to explain myself to a rude person like yourself, so thanks for your help. :)

Thank you very much for your honest and NICE reply. A lot of people here seem to go out of their way to disappoint young dreamers like me, but thanks to people like you who actually do motivate us yet tell us what we could improve on.

Thank you again. I really appreciate your answer. :)

Well, I’m sorry that there are people out there that are smarter than me. I don’t deny that… but honestly. For a person like me who just came from another country and barely knew how to speak English, I believe I did pretty well. Yes, I realize that reaching for Stanford is like reaching for the stars, but honestly, I believe in myself and dreams…so I"m going to still try. :)

That totally sounds so cliche, but its how i feel…so please respect it. :D

Entropy probably didn’t read that English wasn’t your first language. Look up and see if Stanford requires internationals to send their SAT Score if they aren’t completely fluent in English. You’ll also have to take a harder courseload in Senior year… consider taking all four of your classes as APs. Stanford will not accept someone that they believe took an easy route.
