Hi, I am a senior at a very compatible high school that is a blue ribbon school in Tennessee. I have a 3.174 GPA and 23 Act score so far. Do I have a chance of getting in University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Every class I have taken is honors. I have 5 years of Math, 5 years of science, 3 years of foreign language, 4 years of history, and all 4 years of English. I will also have 3 dual-enrollment courses before I graduate. I ran cross country and track my freshman and sophomore year. I am a member of beta club. I am also an Eagle Scout and have exactly 100 hours of community service. I just retook the Act and am going to take it again next month. Do I have a chance of getting in University of Minnesota? I am applying to the College of Education and Human Development.
Your chances are about 14%. This school is getting more difficult to gain entry out of state and your ACT will hurt you
That’s an exact percentage haha
I’d say it’s somewhat of a reacch with your current act. Get the act to like a 27 and I think you’re golden. Do you have class rank?
Yes, I am going to try and score a 27 on the Act. I took the writing section and scored a 23. If that helps anything? Minnesota is my dream school. I would like to attend because it is a runner up public ivy school in a beautiful city.
No, my class does not rank.
In your app be sure to highlight anything you have stuck with for a long time such as being an eagle scout(congrats btw). Anything to do with your future major should be included in app too. The college of education and human development is their easiest school, but still hard to get into. I think the act will make a huge difference. Be sure to let us know the results when you get them.
Thank you for very much. I will definetly let you all know. If I do not get in, then I will attend either FIU, KU, or UNM
Does applying early make a difference?
I submitted my application on September 29 and they have received everything? When can I expect a decision? I am debating whether or not to visit. I would definetly like to visit before winter.
The cities are beautiful, yes they are.
Yes. I went two years ago and loved the twin cities. I have wanted to go here for 2 years
I would also like to add that my ELA is a 23 and my writing score is an 8 on the Act. Does this improve my chances since Minnesota requires the writing portion of the Act?
