Do I have a good chance of getting into UF?

I’m a white female, grew up with both parents in a good home. I had a 4.45 GPA weighted, 4.0 unweighted, 28 ACT, varsity cross country for freshman an junior year, tennis freshman and sophomore year. I go to an application and interview based arts school- I’m in technical theatre and senior year I will be a master carpenter. I work at a baseball field as a mascot. I started a book club at school, im the NHS department representative, and Key Club social media coordinator

Race and sex doesn’t matter to UF Admissions since affirmative action was banned in FL a while ago. If you mean that you’re middle-upper class income by the “good home” comment, then I don’t think that’ll matter either.

Make sure to recalculate your GPA in the same way that UF does it. They’ll weigh AP/IB/AICE/DE classes out of 5, Honors out of 4.5, and Regular classes out of 4. Unweighted GPA doesn’t count, as far as I know. If your recalculated GPA is still 4.45, you should be fine, as that was their average for this year. Since you said you go to an arts school, make sure to take out the arts classes when calculating your GPA unless they were AP or IB classes. They only want you to report your core academic curriculum, which does not include arts, band, computer skills, workshop, gym, etc.

What was your course rigor like? UF loves kids who take lots of AP and IB classes.

I don’t know if your school is based in Florida or not, but if it isn’t, then they probably won’t really know that much about your school to consider the entrance policy to begin with. If it is, then I don’t know how much it’ll matter, but my hunch is that it won’t matter too much. UF is known to have feeder high schools, though I do believe that’s mainly due to the student and not the school.

Your extracurricular activities look good enough for UF.

If your essay is good, I think you have a good shot.

Yes i’d focus a lot of attention on writing a good essay. Otherwise, things look pretty good.

My school is based in Florida. And I have taken 5.5 AP classes and I am taking 4 my senior year.

I am a white female, I plan on going into the medical field. I go to an application based Arts School in Florida, and I am in the technical theatre department and am master carpenter. I am a varsity cross country runner, was a varsity tennis player freshman and sophomore year. I have about 500 service hours. I am a member of my church’s youth program, NHS memeber, NHS department representative, memeber of Keyettes, and Keyettes social media coordinator. I have a 4.0 UW, I have a 4.5 weighted (just academic classes). I have taken 5.5 AP classes and plan on taking 4 more, one my freshman, one my sophomore year, 3.5 my junior year, and 4 my senior year. I dual enrolled in Government and made an A. My rank is #6 out of 150. Do I have a good chance of getting accepted? Also, what other schools should I apply to?

UF does not considered gender or race in admissions, being a white female will not impact you. They do consider geography, but you can’t change that. UF places more emphasis on grades than test scores, so you have that base covered with your excellent GPA. For Fall of 2017, the average admitted student SAT/ACT was a 1349/30, so you should try to be above those figures for the standardized test.

UF also places much more emphasis on essays than most other publics, so make sure to spend your time on those. The college essay section on CC might be helpful. If you can pull the standardized test score up, you are in good shape.

FSU is the prototypical back-up school for UF, and you should get in there or the other Florida publics with a 28. New College might also be an option if you like theater.
