I'm currently a high senior and I'm thinking about applying to Florida. When I'm accepted, I plan to walk-on to the basketball team. I'll be honest. I haven't played "organized" basketball since the 8th grade in middle school. I'm not "skilled" in an offensive or defensive sense. I'm 5'7 and overweight, but I've got quick hands. My left leg is longer than my right, and I'm legally blind. But what I DO have is more valuable than any other trait, and that's heart. And if movies have taught me anything, it's that the player with the most heart always wins.

Personally, I think you have an excellent chance. As a matter of fact, why are you planning on becoming a walk-on? Either your name has somehow mistakenly slipped off Billy D's short list, or he's convinced that you'll take your talents elsewhere and he hasn't bothered to try and recruit you.

"Organized?" Pshaw. If you've played a couple of games of pickup since 8th grade, you'll be fine. If you're playing defense, just scream at Noah to make sure he blocks the other team's shots, and that'll make you look good too. On offense, you can just stand underneath the basket and wait for someone to feed the ball to you. It's okay if you miss a few of those layups, because you're legally blind. Everyone will understand. Besides, you have other good qualities. I like a basketball player with a little meat on his bones, and I know the team will too. It might make things a little difficult when they're hoisting you up to carry you off the court like a king after one of your countless victories, but they won't mind. If they do cause any trouble, just use those quick hands to take them down and show them who's boss.

You're basically in, so I'd just like to take the time to congratulate you on your National Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010 (and 2011, if you don't decide to finally go as the #1 pick in the NBA draft). Remember me when you get your book deal, and when you're being consulted for the filming of the sequel to Rudy.

lol kirst. Nice response.
