Thanks for all your help!

yeah, probably

states are on par – i would emphasize your leadership positions and how your different background might help you fit into dyson.

Could I get some more opinions? @hilariousimlolin Thanks for the insight! @WongTongTong Thanks!

bump!!!

first off, congrats for considering AEM. I just got in and hope to see you there.

My Credentials:
know several professors because I live near them and know their kids (i live near Cornell)
have spoken to admissions staff at AEM several times
a graduate of AEM helped me through my admissions process
have all the most recent undergrad info
i got in

First off, don’t worry about your SAT IIs. the Ag school in Cornell does not require them. I inquired about what exactly that meant, “not required” but it really means that they’re unlikely to even look at them (i asked specifically this, and that’s what they said. I was really bummed out because I had an 800 Math II and a 780 Bio that essentially counted for nothing)

your SAT I is above par, which is to your benefit. As is being female. Only 42% of AEM is female

your APs also show interest, which is what AEM is looking for. AEM is incredibly selective (10% acceptance rate for class of 2016). What i heard over and over again at the admissions office is about how AEM emphasizes FIT over all else. The college courses are also to your benefit in this case.

your extracuriculars look good and well rounded, but I don’t see a lot of leadership. That’s something I would try to fill in. Do you have any leadership positions at all in any of your ECs? That’s something you definitely want to mention

a few questions: have you taken the ACT? Cornell likes to see both tests, if you’ve got it. Don’t panic if you havent taken it. Are you in the top 10% of your class? that’s also important. Finally, and most importantly, do you have any connection to Cornell in terms of family or do you live in NY state? That is to your advantage if you do (but it certainly isn’t a dealbreaker if you don’t)

Overall, you seem like an above average candidate in terms of pure numbers. However, AEM (for just the major, specifically) emphasizes fit and has a huge yield rate (68%, higher than that of MIT as a whole). Make it clear that you can be the type of candidate that AEM is after and I think you stand a good shot.

got questions? I’ll be happy to field them. I know a ton about AEM admission and Cornell as a whole, so pretty much nothing about the school is off limits

if you end up applying, good luck! if you chose to apply to some other excellent business school good luck all the same!

@wrung17 thank you for you post! It was really helpful!
