Do I have a shot at Columbia ED?

Ok...so here's everything I have...

SAT I: 730 cr/ 680 m/ 720 wr (2130 total)
SAT IIs: 670 US History
710 Literature
770 Spanish
740 Math IC

AP Tests: US History-5
AP Spanish-5
AP Gov-5

GPA: around a 4.2
Class rank: 4/145ish (top 5%)

-have taken most challenging classes possible, always at least 1 year ahead in every subject

ECs: Mock Trial (4 years)
Recruitment Team (3 years)
Liturgy Team (1 year)
CSF (4 years)
Acolyte at Church (10 years)
Piano (10 years)
***I know I don't have an extensive list of a million activities, but I have been truly dedicated to the ones I am involved in.

Volunteering: 5ish hours per term, plus some work during summers
Work: 20ish hours per week this summer

Have gotten nearly straight A's (only four B's thus far, knock on wood, and they have been in AP or Honors classes)

***Should have excellent essay, teacher recs

So......do I have a shot at Columbia ED? Thanks.

If you can raise the SATs up to a 2250+, you'd have a better chance, not saying you have none right now.

I would try to get at least 3 SAT II's at 750+, and with the great essay + rec, you're a considerable candidate.

Being an ivy, Columbia is a reach for the majority.

Maybe if you raise your SAT I and II scores, you might have an ok chance. But right know your scores are a bit short of Ivy level and theres nothing that spectacular about your EC's.

You might.

The problems I see...
-# of APs (unless your school only offers a few to begin with)
-SAT score (since everything else isn't stellar, you should probably raise it to at least 2200)

Also, have you earned any awards or held positions in any of your extracurriculars? And where exactly did you do work/volunteer (or what type)?

re: APs...no, my school doesn't offer many...i've basically taken all the ones they do offer...plus i'm taking AP Calc and AP English this year

like i said with my ecs...I dont have many, but the ones I do have I am very, very dedicated with and am extremely involved in. I also have had family circumstances which have limited my availability, but my essay explains that.

volunteering varies...usually I volunteer at a local food kitchen, but this summer I taught at Vacation Bible School.

Again, I am taking the most challenging classes available, including 3 languages (French, Spanish, Greek)
