Do I have a shot at georgia tech? Maybe even a UC school?

I've asked this a few months ago but now I have updated my student profile a bit.

I'm a rising senior, interested in studying engineering.

GPA: 3.7 weighted, 3.6 unweighted.
ACT composite: 31

SAT: 2020
Reading: 620
Math: 690
Writing: 710

volunteer hours: around 200, mostly at libraries and picking up street trash.

clubs: been in 8 so far, haven't had any leadership positions in them.

I don't know if I can put this or not, but I played soccer with the YMCA for 6 years, won three championships and played basketball for 2 years with them as well. Or can you only put sports you played for your high school on your college resume?

I've had a summer job at a convenience store last summer.

I've taken all honors in freshman year but did pretty bad in them, then in junior and senior year I did all regular classes except for honors bio and honors chemistry, and my grade was 95+ in both of them. Overall, I did poorly at first but later improved, year by year. Colleges like that right?

been in zero AP's so far, though I'm planning on taking AP environmental next year to boost my gpa up some more. In my freshman year, I did really, really bad though I have a decent explanation for that (at least I think I do) that involves...family. And I also read that UC schools don't look at freshman year so if they don't that brings my unweighted gpa up to around 3.9.

I also have an interesting life story and I don't want to sound cocky but I really think I'm going to be the only one applying that has it, so that should make my essay stand out.

I also have an engineering teacher that likes me a lot and will write me a recommendation when I'm applying for college (hopefully) and I'm also hoping to do well enough in ap environmental to get that teacher to write me a recommendation as well, if that matters.

And I've also changed high schools every year so I'm hoping ga tech cuts me some slack on the bad course rigor.

Live in atlanta area, heard it's easier for students from georgia to get into ga tech. I've put my info in cappex and it says my chances look good.

Also, sorry if this sounds stupid, but none of my schools have had an honors society, so since I have done well in a few honors classes, would I be able to put myself as an honors student on my profile?

Race: asian indian (yeah i know, you won't see an asian with bad stats like this too often)

Sorry if this is long and doesn't fit the normal format people use on this website but this is really my first time using it.

Yes
Too lazy to justify reasoning

ok then… can anyone else evaluate me?

and wait a minute are you saying i have a chance at both ga tech and a uc school?

the uc schools i’m interested in are berkeley (most likely out of range for me) and san diego.

The UCs have their own formula for weighting GPAs. Without a lot of Honors/AP/IB classes, you might not have a high enough GPA for the two you mentioned. Berkeley is probably out of reach for you; if your UC-weighted GPA is closer to a 4.0, you’d have a shot at UCSD unless you are considering one of their more selective STEM programs. My son got into UCSD, and rejected from Berkeley (out-of-state) with a 3.3-3.4 unweighted GPA, but his UC-weighted GPA was over 4.0. He had all AP/IB classes as an upperclassman, and took the “most demanding available” course-load. His SAT/ACT composite scores were 2060/31. He had great ECs. He applied to the Arts & Sciences college, not STEM.

Thanks, how do I look for GA Tech?

anyone?

Ehh georgia tech i would say is a high match i would say

For the UC’s you would need to get a higher SAT to be competitive. As an OOS, you would be paying $55k per year at the UC’s.
