Hey guys, so Uconn is my #1 school. I’ve dreamed about going there since freshman year. I know it’s a long shot, but I wanted to see what you guys thought. With that said, here’s my stats:
3.78 gpa (weighted out of 5)
All honors and AP classes
Top 40% of my class
1720 SAT
Ice hockey, track and field, work experience 3 years
Numerous awards and honors
34 hours volunteering
PS: is there anything I can do to boost my application getting accepted? Maybe having them notice me a little bit more?
Thanks!
I definitely think you’ll get accepted, especially given how high your GPA is. However, also aided by the fact you have consistent work experience and several awards helps too (UConn loves consistency in activities); if not a likely school, then if anything it’s a match. As long as you have a strong essay and strong recommendations (especially since UConn allows up to 10!), then I’m sure you’ll be able to catch UConn’s eye. While I do think what you have here is great, my only suggestion is maybe beef up your extracurricular activities…? (Those who I know had gotten accepted had strong ECs, if not “good” GPAs. Then again, I also know someone else who had gotten accepted with a 3.2 UW GPA and 1620 SAT while remaining completely bereft of afterschool activities but was elected for an Asian scholarship UConn had to offer.) Otherwise, I don’t see much of a problem with what you have to offer for admissions office. I know some people who had gotten accepted to UConn with a GPA much lower than yours, so don’t short yourself out just yet!
