Do I have a shot at Notre Dame?

I was wondering If I have a shot at Notre Dame–I have around a 3.68 and take all the honors classes that my school offers. I have a 1430 on the new SAT, and I was MVP and captain of my school cross country team four years in a row. My father and brother graduated from ND, but even so it seems like I have a very slim chance of getting in. Does anyone have any input? Thanks!

You have a 6.47% chance of getting in if you take into account ONLY your test scores. MVP and captain of CXC give you a lot of points too, but for it to do something you must apply to do athletics there. So I’d say it maybe takes your chances up to 15%. The fact that you’ve done a rigorous curriculum (taken the hardest classes your school offers) brings it up to an 18% chance. Having parents who’ve graduated gives you the greatest boost. It might bring you up to 30-35%. So my final verdict is that you maybe have a 1 in 3 chance of getting there. I wouldn’t rely on getting in, but you have a decent chance.

I think your chances are greatly improved when you apply…so do it and don’t regret it.
You’ll always wonder if you could of if you don’t and if you do and don’t get in it won’t be because you aren’t an awesome student. It will be because your meant to be somewhere else!
So Apply and good luck!

As the others have said, it won’t hurt you to apply - so long as ND is something you’re passionate about! There is a decent chance you’ll get accepted, but never put all your eggs in one basket unless you absolutely have to. With your grades (which I think are excellent) and apparent drive, you will be able to do many things in life.
Best wishes!

@EF32412321 I agree that your chances are not very good given the combination of your GPA and test scores. The legacy will definitely improve your chances and I would certainly submit an application if you love ND. I would give it your best shot, but certainly apply to other schools where you are more likely to receive an offer of admission.

Thank you everyone for your input! I appreciate the advice!
