Hey I just finished my junior year, I have a 3.703 weighted gpa and i got a 1900 on my Sats 590 CR 700 M 610 W I want to go into engineering. Do i have a chance at early action engineering?

ill take any feedback....

yeah engineering id say so

Got SAT subject tests back today, 690 math, 690 chemistry...

bump............anyone?

I would try and raise the regular SAT a bit more if I were you... like maybe around 2000-2100 range.

Villanova is insane to get into these days, and when I went to an accepted students day, they said that the average SAT (math + verbal) was 1380-1420 or something around that... it's even higher if you're going to try for EA

you will most likely get into engineering

This past year I applied EA with a 3.8 UW/4.1ish W GPA and a 2160 SAT 630CR 800M 730W. I also applied to engineering thinking that a high Math score would overcome the low CR score. Well, I was deferred EA and later accepted but only after winning several math/science awards at the state and local level.

Point being, don't apply EA unless you can raise your scores quite a bit. This past year Nova became VERY competitive and the trend is sure to rise. If you can get your scores into the 2000-2200 range then yes, by all means apply EA. But coming from someone with similar stats to your own at the time of EA application, do not apply early.

Wait untill RD to increase your chance at admission.

Villanova is becoming more competitve as are many other schools around the country.

Villanova's standards are rising. Their SAT range is not a 1320-1480.

I'm sure the SAT average is around the upper 1200's meaning the 25%-75% range is somewhere around the 1180-1360 area.

NdPhish is right though when he says don't apply EA. Villanova is MUCH harder EA than it is for RD.

Definitely apply RD to increase your chances of admission.

For the class of 2010, the accepted students' admissions stats show 1310-1420 50th percentile SATs, and other stats.

Every school shows inflated stats such as SAT scores on their website.

We should wait and see what U.S. News has for Villanova's 25-75% SAT range.

U.S. News will have the correct range.

Just as a reference point, I was accepted EA with a 2100 (710 V, 660 M, 730 W)... I was also invited into Villanova's Honors Program, so I guess my scores were considered decent.

I have heard that Villanova greatly weighs GPA as well. I had a 4.38/ 4.00 W GPA.

Hope that helps in any way.

oh and my rank was 6/ 278 in a very competitive school. Me and the #7 person in my school were the only two accepted by Villanova.. her scores were 2000+ as well.

Both of us were to the College of Arts and Sciences

My D's scores were below 2000 but she was ranked 3/271 in a very competitve high school. Her GPA was 3.92 uw with good EC's. She really doesn't test well on the standardized tests but I guess Villanova thought her transcript, rank etc. were good enough. So sometimes it isn't always about the SAT's. Villanova was always her first choice and she let them know that many times during the year. About 27 students from my D's high school applied to Villanova, with only 3 accepted, 2 are attending. The other student besides my D was ranked 5/271. I really think the college admission process is a "crap shoot"!

wow, if what you guys are saying is true i dont know how i got in! i was accepted EA with almost the same stats as MChiz. My advice: write a killer essay, one youre sure theyve never even thought about reading before. I'm pretty sure thats the only thing that gave me an edge. good luck!

I believe the school of engineering is the toughest to get into. For eg. I think that they have min. level M/V Sat scores that they need to see, in addition to gpa.
Other majors/colleges may take students with lower SAT scores...however, as was mentioned above...it is very competitive to get in, no matter what your major/college.

thanks everyone for your help!

engineering at nova is not the toughest to get into... business probably is
