I am going to be a high school sophomore this year, and I know it's quite early, but I was wondering if I will have a shot at getting into Chapman. I am from the East Coast. I go to a public school where I currently have a 4.0 unweighted, and I take the most challening courses my school has to offer (honors and next year APs). My only problem is I don't have very good extracirriculars. I was in 2 clubs last year and I probably won't be in anymore this year. I also have to work on my volunteer work, and I am hoping to do a lot this year. I did a teen tour type trip to Australia which I will put on my application, but aside from all those things I have little extracirriculars. If I keep up my good grades and do well on my SAT/ACTs will I have a shot at getting into Chapman? How important are extracirricular activities to them? Thanks for your help!

You should definitely be able to get into Chapman if you keep that up. I didn't have much ECs either and I got in with a scholarship so you should be fine. They like ECs, being small but academics take top priority. Keep doing the volunteering, that's the kind of thing they like.

while chapman has been moving up it still is nowhere as selective as any of the nearby claremont colleges. you should be fine.
