WM from MA; strong public school; 700M/620CR/540W; 690MathI SATII; 650 USHistory; 3.35gpa out of 4.0, having taken 3/4 of classes at advanced level and 3APs this year; pres. of language club (2ys); varsity sport team (4ys); few other ec's, summer job, a little volunteering; not applying for fin. aid.

Any and all thoughts on my possibility of admission welcomed! Thanks.

The GPA is too low man. Also, the SAT is low. Even though they don't require the scores this year, you need something to make up for your low GPA. I'm not saying don't apply. You should apply. You will never know if you never try. GOOD LUCK!

I'm kind of trying to avoid chance threads, but, like DougBetsy said, this one's interesting, so I'll take a wild stab at it :)

Fortunately, Wake does not, as I know of, consider the Writing portion of the SAT. That would leave your score at 1320, about average (a good thing). The whole "AP" title being completely relative to the school, I can't really comment on your strength of schedule. As everyone knows, some AP's are different than others.

The real issues are your EC's and GPA. You really need some sort of passion to help tell your story as a student and as a person. If it's sports, make sure to highlight that. Are you planning on playing anything at Wake? More volunteering would be nice, especially in keeping with the school motto "Pro Humanitate," which the admissions council takes very seriously. Academically, a 3.3 seems low for a Wake applicant. Many students here had 4.0's at their schools. Sometimes, however, a 3.3 at one school may equate to a 4 at another, so it's really hard to tell at this point, being an outsider.

Advice: SHOW INTEREST. Interview. Write the most intuitive, reflective essays you possibly can. Visit campus. Do anything you can to let the AC know that you want to be here, and that you will come here if you are accepted. I think they really value that.

Best wishes with your admissions, and please feel free to shoot me a message if you need help in any way!!!

Oh, and, congrats Mahmoud, looking forward to seeing you here next year :)
