I'm applying for communications at Newhouse, and I am aware that it is extremely competitive. The other 2 majors I applied for were marketing and psychology. Since SU is so expensive I think I would only attend if I went for communications or marketing.. I'm still not sure what to expect, though.. Looking at my info could anyone give me an idea if I have a chance? Thanks!

With your GPA and SAT’s Newhouse is a major major reach! Even Whitman may be a reach but I think you have a decent shot at getting in as a psych major! Good luck!

I wouldn’t count her out just yet, I had a 3.1 W but a 2110 SAT(740 CR/690 M) and did not expect to get in. I was extremely surprised when I opened that e-mail. I hate to be “that kid” since it’s so subjective, but I really think it was my essays that did it. If you wrote really out of this world essays, you have a shot at newhouse.

I agree that ED is a huge advantage when applying to Syracuse. I think Newhouse is a long shot but Whitman is a strong possibility because of your strong math scores. When you interviewed for Syracuse, did your interviewer give you any suggestions about which school to apply for? For my D, the interviewer encouraged her to apply in a direction that she had not considered before which turned out to be very helpful. Of course, the good part about Syracuse is that they do give you a chance to be considered for all of your options. Good luck - it’s really hard for any of us to predict.

IANAL: I wrote it about the small elementary school i came from and how difficult of a time I had adjusting from having like 10 kids in my grade to having 25 students to a teacher. I wrote that that was basically why my freshman gpa(2.5) was so awful and that as high school went on I matured and grew as a student, resulting in my 3.7 gpa Junior year.
