I have a low SAT score .I have scored 1300 on the new SAT with 750 in maths and just 550 in the english section.i have scored 80% in my 11th grade and 9.4 CGPA in 10th grade. In the SAT subject test ,I have scored 730 in maths level 2 and 700 in physics. I do have a strong extra curricular section. I have participated in national level table tennis tournament once and have won the state level table tennis tournament 5 times (I have provided the certificates along with my application). I have also received best sportsman of the year award at school(I have provided the certificate). In total I have provided 8 certificates of achievement out of which 6are at state level ,1 is national level and one is school level achievement. I have also qualified for the national defence academy written exam. My english score in the SAT is low for the ivies . I want to know if I still have any chances of getting accepted?? My major is engineering and I am an international student.
If you sent table tennis certificates along with your application, it sounds like you did not seek advice from someone familiar with the American college admissions process. The lack of understanding how the system works plus your low English skills makes me concerned about the quality of your essays.
Even with perfect test scores, chances for international students to the Ivy League are very low – there are so many applications for each place in the top twenty or so schools. You could increase your chances to study in the USA simply by going off the beaten path in your college search. There are many excellent engineering schools.
Regardless, the applications are in now. All you can do is wait and see. Hopefully you like your backup options, too.
What country or region of the world are you from? This will impact the way your stats are looked at.
Also, what’s your exact budget? Financial need is a big factor except at Harvard, take, Princeton, Amherst, and MIT .
Look at the LAC USNWR list and check out Lehigh, Bucknell, Lafayette, Trinity .
I m from india and yes I have applied for financial aid
I hope you will be admitted! However, to be honest, I know at least 5 Indian students who have stronger extracurricular, and have 1550+ on their SAT including perfect 800 on Biology, Chemistry, Math level 2 and Physics.
Your sport performance can add a bit to your app.
Hope you submitted great essays and recommendations!
The fact that they are so many Indians applying definitely hurts your chances
Unfortunately, as an applicant from India (which is already incredibly competitive) coupled with your poor stats, your chances are very slim to nonexistent.
